Before you begin: this application is a real evening of work, and that is on purpose. The five substantive questions ask for 150–400 words each, written in your own voice. Please do not use AI to draft your answers — the Panel reads for the specific texture of a real person thinking, and generic writing is easy to spot.
An open seat in your city is not a guarantee of admission, and payment is not the deciding factor. What you are building, why you are building it, and the frame that makes it mean something beyond politics — those are.
Three outcomes, within thirty days.
Applications are read by the Review Panel. The Panel returns one of three outcomes:
- Admitted — you are offered a seat.
- Not this year — not at this time, with a written note on what the Panel would look for in a future application. Reapplication after twelve months.
- Not a fit — the Panel does not see a fit with the community's purpose. Reapplication after twenty-four months.
The Panel does not issue rejections framed as verdicts on a person's worth. Every “no” is a “not now” or “not here.”
A note on privacy
Admission, if offered, is a private matter between you and the community. The community does not publish who its members are and does not confirm any individual's membership to any outside inquirer. If you are admitted, whether you speak about your own participation in your own life is your choice. Whether anyone else's participation is spoken about is theirs, not yours. This is how the room stays a room.
